By       -   October 9th, 2015

As the industry gears up to implement the switch from PET to glass for medicines, the debate on the merits and demerits of both continues. If a ban on PET does take effect, the immediate beneficiary will be the glass industry.

It is estimated that 35000 MT of PET Amber is used for the pharmaceutical industry and it is witnessing a growth of 8 to 10 per cent year on year.

Presently, the glass industry has a capacity of 10,000 TPD and currently almost 20~25 per cent capacity is idle, which can be utilized for the pharma industry.
